Preview: Aberdeen look to bounce back against a buoyant Ross County

Aberdeen play Ross County at Dingwall in the next round of their Premiership campaign looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats against Motherwell and Sporting Lisbon.

Aberdeen currently sit fourth in the Premiership, five points behind Hibernian and only a point ahead of Ross County, with two games in hand.

The Dons need to get back on track to keep up with the Old Firm and a rejuvenated Hibernian side.

Aberdeen have a good chance of gaining some ground lost in the last week with Celtic facing Hibernian and Rangers taking on last season’s third place finishers Motherwell, both games also on Sunday.

County, who are looking to consolidate their Premiership status after a recent dip into the Championship, have had a seemingly satisfying start to the season picking up eleven of twenty-four points to sit fifth.

Ferguson – “If we want to play in stadiums like Lisbon we need to beat teams like Staggies”

Lewis Ferguson has played in both recent losses and says while Aberdeen weren’t at the races against Motherwell, they gave a good account of themselves in Lisbon.

The midfielder wants more experiences of European football with the Dons and says they have to go to places like Dingwall and win in order to get them.

Ferguson said: “Playing in a stadium like Sporting CP’s against a top team is what you want to do. The only way we can get back to that is going to Ross County and getting three points.”

Loss to Motherwell hard to take

Sports reporter who covers the Staggies for the Press & Journal Andy Skinner says the loss to Motherwell last weekend would have been particularly hard for Aberdeen to take.

Mr Skinner told The Reporter: “That result against Motherwell last week, being three goals down after thirty minutes, that will have hurt and I think Aberdeen will be desperate to get back on track after that.

“County have to be careful. I think they could face quite a hungry team on Sunday. As they say, a wounded animal is always a dangerous one.”

Mr Skinner believes Aberdeen have an impressive depth to their squad and is intrigued to see how the Dons will fare this season.

Mr Skinner said: “I think the ease with which the new signings have settled in like McCrorie, it leads me to believe Aberdeen are on to good things this season and it will be interesting to see how far they can go.”
