Sky released a promo vid of Aberdeen’s clash against Celtic in Sunday’s SPL encounter showing twenty-two Celtic goals when they could have easily split the goal exploits 50/50.
Whilst Celtic have scored the majority of goals against Aberdeen 42-17 since 2016, the promo, which reeled off twenty-two Hoops goals, could have been split with Aberdeen.
It was noted in the media that the video shows goals dating back to the Brendan Rodgers’ era when the current Leicester City manager took the reins at Celtic Park in May 2016.
In that time the Hoops have played Aberdeen twenty times winning sixteen, drawing two and losing two.
-Anger at Sky for Aberdeen Celtic promo vid only showing Celtic goals
Supporters vented their fury on social media after Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack said he was ‘disappointed’ with the one-sided video produced by Sky.
Cormack said on social media: “Really disappointed at Sky. To spend all week creating a one-sided promo that tries to humiliate any club goes against Sky’s commitment to help promote and grow the SPFL.”
Sky have responded with an apology saying they met with Dave Cormack and had a very constructive meeting.
The statement read: “Aberdeen FC chairman Dave Cormack and Sky Sports Director of Football Gary Hughes held an open, constructive, and positive Zoom conversation this evening about yesterday’s tweet and the concerns raised by Aberdeen.
“While the tweet was part of a number of features within an hour long build-up and not intended to be used in isolation, Sky unreservedly apologised for any offence the tweet caused to Aberdeen and their fans.”

Supporter’s response on Twitter – too much focus on the big two hurting the Scottish game:
-We’re the biggest and most successful club in Scotland outside those 2. We have earned and deserve more respect than @ScotlandSky gave us today.
-It has only been about 2 teams since Sky have been involved.
-A game which “always delivers” followed by 22 goals from only one team. Can you imagine a promo like that for an english game?
-The worry I have is that SPFL growth for all clubs is not at the heart of @SkySports or the @spfl approach for TV broadcasting.
-If we look at the full list of games broadcast there is a disproportionate amount of coverage for two clubs.

-They ain’t interested in any team away from Celtic and Rangers.
-Absolute disgrace from Sky. The attitude towards every club outside the Old Firm is shocking.
-To be fair before yesterday Celtic dominates every game for the last decade so it’s a pretty accurate video.
-If we are being honest here the majority of goals scored in this fixture are Celtic ones.
-All “promos” are designed to attract customers. In Sky’s case this advert was created to attract a global audience and not specifically aimed at subscribers in Cults, Bieldside, Torry or Northfield.

Hostilities are quick to be renewed with the Dons facing Celtic next Sunday in the semi-final of last season’s covid-hit Scottish Cup.
It comes at a good time for Aberdeen with Celtic having not won in three.
The Dons have a great chance of making the final and perhaps lifting the trophy for the first time since 1990 against either Hearts or Hibernian who play in the other semi-final.
