Scotland have finally entered the promised land after twenty-two years of heartbreak.
Steve Clarke’s men qualified for Euro 2020 proper after beating Serbia on penalties in a nail-biting final round qualifier in Belgrade last night.

It’s the Scot’s eleventh attempt to enter a major tournament since Craig Brown led the Tartan Army at the France 98 World Cup.
“I’m just proud to be in charge of them. If they did want to shed a tear then they were more than entitled to do that.”
Steve Clarke is the next manager to lead his nation on the world stage after Brown, Berti Vogts Tommy Burns, Walter Smith, Alex McLeish, George Burley, Craig Levein, Billy Stark, Gordon Strachan and Malky Mackay all failed to lead the nation to a major finals.
Clarke said after the game: “I don’t like to categorise these things but this is the proudest moment of my career.”

On his players, the Scotland manager didn’t hold back with praise: “The commitment and character they (the players) show, the quality they show, I’m just proud to be in charge of them. Their commitment is beyond question and if they did want to shed a tear then they were more than entitled to do that.”

Scotland captain Andy Robertson was still in a state of shock at what had been achieved.
Robertson said: “I don’t want to think about it because I’ll probably cry.
“We felt the love back home and we felt how much we could give everyone a lift during a tough time. We’re looking forward to the summer now.”
