Bundsliga Matchday 19
30/01/21
Bundesliga Matchday 19 saw both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich pick up victories.
For Bayern it’s a fourth win on the bounce taking their lead at the top of the table to ten points.
For Dortmund it’s the BlackYellows’ first win in four meaning they move to fifth in the table.
Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Augsburg
Dortmund got their first win in four in a hard fought victory over Augsburg.
The Fuggerstädter are a tricky opponent for Dortmund having stunned the BlackYellow in the second match of the season winning 2-0.
That form looked to continue as Augsburg took the lead on ten minutes through Andre Hahn.
After only picking up 1 point in 9 and with the title race all but over Dortmund’s confidence is rock bottom, demonstrated by Erling Haaland who cannoned his penalty onto the bar midway through the first half. Haaland will be ruing that miss after his goalscoring exploits this season (14 in 14), and having scored his debut hat-trick against Augsburg back in January 2020.
Terzic still doesn’t seem to know his midfield pairing with Axel Witsel out injured. This was his fourth combination in four matches. Julian Brandt dropped back to partner Thomas Delaney with Bellingham and Can both dropped.
Giovanni Reyna was restored to the starting-11 for the first time in four matches.
Dortmund equalised through Delaney before Jadon Sancho put Terzic’s side ahead in the second half.
That’s Sancho’s third goal in six matches, but also Sancho’s third goal all season, the forward having a difficult first half of the campaign.
Dortmund rounded off the victory when Felix Uduokhai put the ball in his own net.
The victory means Dortmund jump two places to fifth but they are still out of the Champions League spots – the altered target for the season.

Bayern Munich 4-1 Hoffenheim
Bayern Munich continued their imperious form. After losing to Gladbach on matchday 15 that’s now four wins in four.
Jerome Boateng opened the scoring, Thomas Muller then scored his fourth goal in three games. Augsburg pulled one back through forward Andrej Kramaric – Bundesliga’s record Croatian goalscorer with 75 goals.
Serge Gnabry ended his drought scoring his first in eleven.
One man who knows nothing of what a drought is is Lewandowski. Bayern’s number nine scored again. Twenty-fourth of the season, the Pole needs 16 from the remaining 15 to match Gerd Muller’s forty goals in a single season record.
24-year-old Spanish midfielder Marc Roca made his first start for the Bavarian’s after Leon Goretzska tested positive for covid-19 in the week.
Hoffenheim are famous for being the only team to beat Bayern in 2020 humbling the Reds 4-1 in Sinsheim but that result was never looking likely to be repeated today.
Records fall like raindrops in Munich. That was the 27th undefeated game at home for Bayern and their 50th match in a row the Reds have found the net.
The result means Hansi Flick’s side continue to cruise in the league ten points ahead of second place RB Leipzig who play a top table clash against Leverkusen in the evening kick-off.
